Your Voice Is Your Instrument

Yes, probably like you, they started with a really good instrument: a good, expressive voice. But the most successful humbled themselves before their VO career exploded. I posted THIS a couple of weeks ago on my website.
It followed a conversation with a really good female air talent, who left L.A. to be with a family member who needed her help. She was looking for ways to make some extra money in a much smaller town.
The response was huge and surprising, actually.
So then I found THIS and thought it was worth sharing, too.

Yes, probably like you, they started with a really good instrument: a good, expressive voice.
But the most successful humbled themselves before their VO career exploded.
They allowed themselves to be beginners, no matter how successful their career on-air had already been.
They sought coaching and help from friends of friends, working as hard on this new skill as they had when they first began in radio.
Some attended years of acting classes to learn to get the most out of their instrument.
As with all things that depend on talent, some have more than others. It's a really crowded field now. I'm not suggesting it will be quick or easy.
But you're already trained to use your voice, so if this helps at all, it's worth it.
