A suggestion...
"Of course God already knows what I need. The question is - do I know?"
"Casting yourself at God's feet in helpless desperation is all well and good - heaven knows, I've done it plenty of times - but ultimately you're likely to get more out of the experience if you can take some action on your end."
That's Elizabeth Gilbert who wrote Eat, Pray, Love about the process she stumbled upon that helped her find herself.
It's a really good book, and if you're struggling, it's worth your time.
Part of what has come from this writing I do is pleas for help, many from people I don't know. Here is what I tell everyone who asks:
- Knock on every door you see.
- Walk through every door that opens.
- Don't be afraid of the new, even if you think you will hate it, until you've given it a real shot.
- Don't let corporate radio define who you have become. You control that, not them, but only if you take control.
- Express gratitude every day, for we are so much more than our jobs, and we have much greater joys to lose.
- Pay it forward. Help someone else worse off than you. Don't say you're going to do; do it!
- Find optimism. You succeeded before. You will again. Radio has given you many skills. Don't give up.
And if you can think of a way I can help, you know I will try.
