Oscar wasn't gay after all. Dolly is still a hillbilly, though. Oh, and why can't Hollywood put hit songs in movies anymore?
A weird, long, unspectacular Academy Awards telecast was soon followed by the Academy of Country Music putting out nominations for more awards. It's enough to make you have red carpet nightmares.
The ACM awards were mind-boggling. Now you can't take any of these award shows too seriously, though, because they operate like the camel with 2 heads. I mean, what is the deal with so many superstar artists getting put out to pasture, but Alabama gets a nomination even though they are supposed to be gone?!?
These shows are all infomercials, anyway, and maybe it's just how the CD release patterns worked out, BUT no Trisha, Reba, Terri, Shania, Garth, or Alan Jackson? Faith and Tim are only up in vocal event. I sure wouldn't want to operate a radio station without those mainstay stars. Good for Carrie and Brad, but a changing of the guard may bring a black out disaster for the ACM ratings.
Kenny going for summer stadium shows. That will be HUGE!
Tim and Faith are out this week plugging their tour for syndicated radio, and they stepped in a political minefield. Started talking Katrina politics and the quotes got picked up by the national press. Right wing talk show hosts went crazy. Tim and Faith don't like the president's handling of the subject. See ABCNEWS.com for the quotes. Its not that big a deal, but it could be.
The Ray Charles exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame is a great draw for this troubled building. Ray was a true genius!!
Neil Young is a rock and roll genius and debuted his new film this week, "Neil Young, Heart of Gold." It is strong and sounds fantastic. Go see this and it will cleanse your soul!
Off to NYC and Spring Training in Central Florida. Need to get ready for the season.
