The group Rascal Flatts will be playing stadiums this summer, as is Kenny Chesney. Somebody is doing something very right.
Meanwhile, the marriage rumors continue on Keith and Nicole. I hope they do something soon. I don't think it helps dragging fans along but hey it's your life, do what you got to do !
Attention country music "stars" do NOT be pains in the ass with the press. It's easier to get Kiefer Sutherland and Michael Douglas to talk to the media than it is with some of our "superstars". I don't think that works for you in the long run. The careers that last in Hollywood have been the ones with great press relations. I'm talking about the people that don't run hot and cold. Example: Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, The Governorator-Arnold, Jay Leno. Nashville stars are getting more and more withdrawn. What's that about? Just look at CMA Music festivals autograph opportunities.
It's a big TV ratings month and look for a live sacrifice May 23rd when the finals for American Idol meet the Academy of Country Music. That simply stinks!
Fox and CBS as the stewards of music are like putting
a fox and a snake in the hen house. The scheduling is bad for all music. Where are the powers that be when you need them? Are the music bosses and publishers that incompetent? I guess so.
The ACM may or may not be having issues with a label about who will and won't sing on the show. That's normal. The Grammy's and American Music Awards are mortal enemies and the Billboard Awards with Fox get feathers ruffled too.
These 3-hour infomercials for music are big business. The Idol issue is just a matter of war. Everyone wants their artist to sing who cares if they win. The Idol folks, Fox, want all the marbles in 24 hour news and programming. Think of them as the Wal-Mart factor, ignore then, try to fight them, it is very difficult.
That Kelli, who bolted from American Idol will be a country star if someone will go out and get her! Cute as she can be and a wonderful personality kind of like Dolly Parton! She can't sing everything but who can??? She is a doll and America already knows and loves her! Not unlike Carrie.
The Las Vegas love fest for Broadcasters, the NAB is now over and TV folks heard that they better get all their news product on every kind of digital format. Duh, You think??? I tell you radio and terrestrial TV people are so far behind the curve in this country. This consolidation of broadcasting has been good for the consolidators ONLY! Sure hasn't been for public service, local broadcasting or much of anything else. Today many of those chains are really trying harder to do the right thing. The problem is that the train has left the station now and you need to cut through the field and go over the mountain to catch up with the listeners and viewers.
The cool stuff is just not filtering down and the FCC just wants to chase crap. The push over to HD has been so slow, its insane. HD radio should have been brought The manufacturers should be REQUIRED to out HD Radio and Satellite Radio, into all new cars and trucks. I'm old enough to remember when the FCC forced TV manufacturers makers to incorporate UHF in THE TUNER...NOT AN ADD ON.
Please broadcasters, try to travel to Europe. Go on a broadcasting safari. TV and radio are so different and for the most part better. Go see and hear for yourself! The Europeans seem to be really on top of the digital revolution. I just got back and from cell phones, to creative TV, it was a blast.
