Can you name a scandal in country music that has seen more attention than the Sara Evans divorce drama? Maybe the alleged kidnapping of Tammy Wynette once upon a time. But in modern times, this is the winner!
The bullet points:
- Sara is keeping a low profile with her kids ...
- Craig has hired a Nashville law firm ...
- Kenny Chesney was accused in the media, then stated he was not involved with Sara ...
- Nanny accused of adultery passed the lie-detector test and admitted to being paid by some media for her story.
What a mess! Will it hurt her career? No one knows. Time, you would think, will fix everything. It normally does. (The nanny will write a book -- or try. Just watch!)
Lots of folks made money off of Sara's problems. The national entertainment shows milked it all week for all it was worth. Some paid the nanny. About 22 million people watched the "Dancing With The Stars" goodbye episode. What a crazy world we live in!
Country music back on in Los Angeles. An AM radio station I have never heard, and when I am in L.A. I listen almost exclusively to AM. I make it to 600 KOGO and 1070 KNX and many stations in between, including 980 KFWB. KFI, KABC, KRLA are good Talk stations during the weekdays. But music on AM going to be a factor in Los Angeles? I very much doubt it. The flip of KZLA is a bomb so far, I might add.
I listened to Ryan Seacrest on KIIS the other morning while fighting my way to LAX, and I enjoyed the show. But way too many commercials. That alone, more than anything, sends the kids to XM or iPods. Charge more, play less!
Tim McGraw's film is out and should have a $9 million opening weekend. It should also do well on DVD and TV rights. It's a $35 million film, plus marketing, so it does need to make some box office. It's a fine family film. Not for two guys out for a beer. Tim is solid, and the critics have judged it that way generally.
Some critics can't give any remake a fair shot. A few didn't like Tim at all, especially David Elliot in San Diego: "Tim McGraw was the manliest pile of dry cordwood since Brad Johnson stacked up in 'Always.'" I thought Tim was good, and I hope the "My Little Girl" song gets an Oscar nod.
Darryl Worley on the "Today" show this Sunday (10/22).
Opry's 81st birthday this weekend, and the CMA weekend is very busy from Friday to Monday night. BMI, Broadway show, Reba movie premiere -- no shortage of stuff going on.
Look for the 17-piece band with Vince Gill if he comes near your town.
