Surely, CBS wasn't trying to throw the show under the bus? Idol will squash the ACMs like a bug that hour they compete Tuesday night. Idol isn't going away. Who is being stubborn?
Who decided to put the straw goober cowboy hats on the "fans" this morning at the Today show? Did someone forget the wagon wheels and hay bales? It looks awful, and the normally good mix sounded awful on Gretchen. Snare drum and vocals ...Yuk!
Our friends in New York, you've got to love them! God bless them they mean well. Nothing looks dumber than a cheap bad fitting straw bubba cowboy hat. Geeeeeezzzzzzzzz...
The CMA Music Festival, a.k.a. Fan Fair on Steroids, is getting close. The weather is warming, and the press releases are coming. The fans had better be in shape. The artists and everyone else too. The event is spread out. It runs 18 hours a day nearly, and by Sunday everyone wants to die. I'm not ready.
Back to Vegas for a second, Shania is going to be on the show. Can't someone just tell us what she's up to these days? I'm sure she looks great so just every year or so just give a few sentences. It won't hurt.
Billy Ray Cyrus is the luckiest country music star ever. Simply EVER! Look at his career and what he has been able to accomplish with perseverance and LUCK. Now Heather Locklear is his girlfriend on Hannah Montana. Billy Ray is survivor and is reaping the rewards.
No Country Idol folks this year. I guess. Why not Haley? Phil's busy with the Navy for now.
Hooray for Trisha Yearwood! Telling everyone she's got a lot more to give and signing a recording deal with people who are excited about her!
The Opry is sure in the spotlight the next two weekends. Look for some news coming out both weekends.
The Medallion ceremony for the Country Music Hall of Fame folks was great! Seeing people like Jimmy Bowen made it that much better. Jimmy Bowen never was elected Class president on Music Row, even though he grossed around a billion over his career. He shook it up. Something many of the cadavers then and now needed and still need.
Never seen so many behind the scenes people kiss each other's butt as much as this current crop of folks do.
Hey wake up. Carrie is happening, but who else is really selling? And is radio totally to blame?
Someone needs to shake things up and be aggressive in the marketing and music. The Internet and YouTube should be doing a WHOLE lot more than it is right now. Yes, yes, Walmart is still selling all the music right now. How long is that model going to hold up?
Is Keith Urban the only Music Row artist with any international appeal? It's been a long week.
Just reminded of the song back in the '70s, I think ... Anyone remember "Smiling Faces" by the Undisputed Truth? Go listen. It fits a lot of what's going on that I see around Music Row these days. The concert business folks are smokin' happy. (A few smart ones anyway.) Everyone else seems to be looking around for answers. And waiting for some dynamic leadership to lead this music malaise out of the wilderness.
Let's get those NBC goober cowboy hats on and PARTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY...
