A million bucks just ain't what it used to be. Country music folks with seven-figure items are like leaves on your front-lawn tree. Just look:
Kenny Chesney just signed a million-dollar deal to play one night in Wisconsin next June. According to the newspapers looking over the real estate sales in the Virgin Islands, Kenny sold a house and turned a $1.1 million profit. Kenny again just grossed $4 million at a Pittsburgh concert. Lots of millions.
If Toby Keith is taking home five bucks a CD as label owner and artist, that's $1.4 million in the first two weeks for his billfold.
You know Tim and Faith are getting a million a night. Others may have to work four nights to get a million. Good for them ALL.
Kellie Pickler canceled three nights over the weekend. Called in sick. She had been visiting her hockey player boyfriend in Rankin Inlet, Canada on Wednesday, telling the CBC she had eaten caribou and some blubber. That will get your system going ... yikes.
Keith Urban is heading back to working the Midwest after a romantic week or so at home with his wife for their wedding anniversary and her 40th birthday.
Bon Jovi debuted at #1 with 270,000 CDs sold? Bard #2 with approximately 205,000? Good sales week for Nashville. Wal-Mart, by the way, is selling 15% of ALL CDs in America.
Fred Thompson for President will have some interesting Music City stores, I bet, before it's over. Lorrie Morgan (an old flame) is getting lots of interview requests. Most recently she talked with the London Sunday Times. Very favorable words for dear Fred.
Tracy Lawrence is putting together an autobiography to go with his next CD. He did have about as big a career turnaround as anyone in country music history -- 13 years between number ones! Lots of trouble in between. Happily married now, and all is well. Good for Tracy!
