The 2010 First Annual RUMBLE Awards

Every five seconds there's an award show, so why not here? We will have the awards and you don't have to suffer through the show. And in this award show: we give awards for the GOOD and the BAD! The envelopes, PLEASE!

(I have written a lot of TV over the years, so lets use a format I don't have to stress over ... the standard awards show..)

Opening Number ... tired of the tired opening song, so let's start with something fun...

Song of the Year: Let's have Lady A and The Alan Parson's Project do a medley of "Eye In The Sky" and "Need You Know." That would be cool and the star power is MAX.

It was the most talked-about and successful song of the year, no matter what the source inspiration. (those songs do have a similar feel) The Jimmy Award for Song of the Year: "NEED YOU KNOW." I love it ... never got tired of it. Could see it done by all kinds of artists, too. So let's have a few stars sing it now and trade some verses ... Kid Rock (can't do an awards show without him) and Uncle Kracker (him, too) ... they swap off to Miranda (the IT girl) and Gwyneth (the other IT girl), then swap off to Blake and Trace, the odd couple and seen everywhere in 2010...

Now to the awards ... let's go fast...

Best Music Row Toy of 2010: The iPad ... It works and it is THE best TOY I have ever owned ... portable, practical, cool...a lifestyle changer.

Most Overrated and Most-Cussed Toy of 2010: The so called SMARTPHONE ... all the smartphones are a pain in the ass. Battery life on non-Apple phones is horrible and for iPhone folks ... drum roll ... all I have to say is AT&T! I cuss AT&T more than I cuss anything! HATE their service!

Best New Country Artist 2010 Award: I discovered Joanna Smith this year. I hope she can breakout in 2011 ... She's got it all ... I promise.. Live performer ... fun ... fresh...

Predicted Big Movers of 2011 Award: Jason Aldean, for sure ... probably Easton Corbin ... The class of 2010 -- Miranda, Blake and Lady A will continue to shine. Star power and status will grow.

Hope They Have A Hit In 2011 Award: Get the new Vince Gill material out ... More Vince in 2011! LeAnn Rimes deserves to get back on the radio in 2011.

Will This Work Again In 2011 Award: anything American Idol. Are we done with that? Or will we keep going? MusicRow never anticipates trends, so more AI singers coming! The magic is diminishing. But if it's good music, it's good music ... Come on downnnnnnnnnn..

The Boring Awards: Almost all artists' Facebook pages and Tweets in 2010 -- exceptions to that: Blake Shelton, LeAnn Rimes, Brad Paisley ... a few others ... very few. Martina tried ... and I'm running out of names.

Running Out Of Gas And Not Into Nashville Award: Can give this one in public ... You get to write in your favorite artists in this category.

The Evergreen Award: So great, that Reba ...George Strait ... Loretta Lynn ... Alan Jackson still gets respect and still makes great music.

The Amazing Ticket Seller Award for 2010: No one competes with Garth Brooks! 140,000 tickets sold in three hours ... Hoo rah!

The Most Talented -- In Too Many Areas Award for 2010: Brad Paisley ... picker, writer, singer, animator, tweeter, pond builder, driver, family man, tractor operator ... He does it all.

Best Late Night Show -- Also Most Fun: Jimmy Kimmel Live, ABC! Hands down ... Jimmy Fallon second. Leno and Letterman feeling old and Conan ... can't find it..

Best Couple Award: Now you know what you would say, but no ...I still Love Tim & Faith ... They've held it together while their star power grows and have a lot of years for a track record. Two great music acts. They seem to have it all.

Best Movie of 2010: (We do it all on this show) I enjoyed the new Harry Potter and look forward to the 2011 finale. I went to the movies a lot, but mostly unsatisfied. So NO AWARD in this category ... so there

Best TV Show: 24 went out with a whimper. Loved it and miss it ...Love the new Detroit 187 and Hawaii 5-0 so they can be best. Discovered Burn Notice on USA I like that show.

Can Iit Survive in 2011 Award: American Idol for sure ... all these damn award shows...

Tired Of It 2010: Any ad about GREEN ... going Green...Green cars ... greeeeeen ... Politicians of both parties who have their own TV shows...Am Idol

So ... 2010 ... The end of B&D and the return of GB .... Conan blown out and Leno became a villain. Jon Stewart became overexposed. The FLOOD of 2010 was devastating and inspiring. Pres Obama dimmed and BUSH sold millions of books. New media grows and grows and even gets a movie that may get an Oscar nomination (Facebook -- social media.) The economy stalls, but didn't fall. We survived .... We all pray for a better 2011 with more happy than sad and good health ... Happy Holidays!
