Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Not making a judgment ... just an observation ... What was that about this week when CMT used People.com to exclusively give out the CMT Video nominations?
Well, I like it better than just doing these things on ABC or CBS. Award show announcements should be on neutral ground like the Oscars No one is given special treatment and everyone learns at the same time. Country music always seems to go hat in hand to some special interest, hurting the overall mass coverage. Make it neutral, but that isn't going to happen.
The Flood fundraisers are underway. The "Nashville is open for tourism" ads are going out, too. Town was really hit and those 2,000-plus opens that were wiped out. Huge need. No flood insurance. Some agents told many they didn't need it. A big mess.
Paisley touring the gutted out Opry this week for NBC News.
Finger pointing and Monday Morning Quarterbacking all over: Why was a warehouse with all the great musical stuff built next to a river that floods? Why did the waters go up so fast and even without warning? Did the Corps of Engineers screw up or do a great job?
Lady Antebellum and Zac Brown are the two hottest groups in music right now..not just country. Sales and any other gauge you like. ZB on Letterman Monday ... Lady A everywhere!
What a career ...REBAAAAAA...Going to Christine, a big cruise ship in New York, this sSummer...Play the U.S. Capitol on the 4th of July and on Letterman in a few days. She remains ... amazing!
War of the ages ... while mentioning Reba, I thought of the CD next to this keyboard. "Bill Anderson: Songwriter". Just got it, plastic coming off when I'm done. One of the city's best songwriters EVER!
Willie Nelson was all over the media in NYC, talking up his new CD, "Country Music." Why is Willie good enough for Howard Stern and Bloomberg Charlie Rose ... and he's not for Country Radio? Something wrong at the core about that!
This imbalance of POP over COUNTRY has to tilt soon. Right now way too one-sided. The record companies are upside down and desperate.
There is good music and some of it is getting in. The problem is balance. Too much Melrose Blvd./L.A. Country and not enough Texas/Alabama country. It will fix itself, but that is always painful!
Summer is here ... Late Spring weather but school is out for colleges and the little kids aren't far behind.
Nashville is open for business ... just don't try to rent a car or stay near Opryland. Other than that, pretty much okay...
