Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Last week I spoke of the time of the year for Spring cleaning ... wow, what a week...
Blood ran down Music Row with the firing squads very busy!
Lyric Street took out maybe 25, a half-dozen at ASCAP, big shots stepping up and stepping down and that usually ends up with some folks getting fired ... Radio stations making changes..
Change can be good ... some jobs are simply stressful and you work with people you would NEVER volunteer to be around. I got a spring cleaning on one of those this week myself. I feel good!
Losing a job is tough ... I was once told you haven't been in the entertainment business really until you've lost a job. Ouch! I hated my "introduction" into the business ...
Big changes this week at the Alabama Music Hall Of Fame. A huge mess. Executive director was fired. I will just say I was not surprised. but I always feel bad for people losing their jobs.
The Larry King divorce mess. His wife is a very good singer, maybe too old (50) to seek a radio hit in this very unfriendly senior world. Big tabloid feeding frenzy. Not as good as Tiger, but it will get the hungry tabloids through a few meals.
The ACMs in Vegas. I doubt you will see as much money tossed around though the stars have the bucks. The big stars touring are mega-millionaires. Just look at their private jets parked at the Vegas airport. Late Sunday night /Monday morning they will all be here around lunch.
Change. We are in a time of change. From NASA to economy from radio programming to what we watch on TV. I played Scrabble on my iPad to relax before bed. Live the changes; don't fight them.
