Carter in his homebase Nashville
The week was simply hard. The death of Nashville football hero Steve McNair took the breath out of the this town for a few days. Michael Jackson's death and his memorial service was another mind stumbler.
Both men were great in their lines of work. Both were horribly flawed in a personal context.
It was so disappointing to see Steve's life snuffed out in such a horrible fashion made a bad situation even worse..the more details and the worse it got.
Michael's situation just dragged on and on. Still won't end.
The memorial services for both men were helpful and outstanding. Music has always comforted families of the departed. Stevie Wonder is so great!
Hank Jr. was among those talking up Steve the Man. Steve McNair was a generous, friendly, accomplished person. Role model all around until he was killed by his mistress. So sad..such a mess.
It was not fun to do the story or hear about it. The memorial service actually helped put both deaths into some kind of perspective.
Nashville lost it's favorite TV newsman Dan Miller in May...Now it's favorite football player. Both unexpectedly. It's been a hard Summer to take.
Life goes on....Sara Evans getting a good break to play the MLB Baseball all stars game Tuesday night...Texas staying in the hot seat with this awful 100 degree plus weather pattern.
Kenny Chesney stormed on stage with a stadium temperature of 50ish Thursday night in Edmonton. The stadium was 55% filled according to press accounts. Better weather would have helped their walk up business...sort of cool and rain potential. The folks in Texas burning up sure would have taken that 50 degree night. Kenny plays GMA Central Park. Been to a few radio stations this week...sure don't seem to be a lot of people working in them!
While on the road...went by the new Indian casino in Atmore,Alabama...Reba and Hank jr play there soon.
Brad's CD debuted Number one....it's great and very well reviewed. CD sales for year are ugly..downloads looking up.
CMT is locking down coverage on the Alan Jackson Aquapalooza in Alabama. Doesn't sound like they want radio there especially. To be seen. 15,000 people,300 boats has disaster potential galore. I was on that late last Sunday at 6pm when a sudden T Storm rolled in....My my the power of nature. Might want to think real hard before you tie your boat up to some crazy people on Lake Martin.
Big festivals in US and Canada ongoing...more in the next 3 weeks...then Football!
