Wow, what a week ... is it me or are you seeing the PPM ratings causing panic at some chains/stations? Knee jerk reactions ... Remember TV went through this locally in many medium/larget markets years ago? You learn to look at it long term ... the samples are crazy ... you see moves in weather coverage, but hardly story coverage ... hard to remain calm ... a trend in not two weeks can be ... but in these times, it's hard to remain calm, isn't it?

Radio of all kinds sucked into the news vortex this week: Can the jinx and curse of the Chicago Cubs rub off on the Olympics? Even Oprah couldn't do it. Politics and crooks in Chicago were too much for the IOC.

Olympic flu now in the Windy City and now Sex Blackmail in the Big Apple with David Letterman ... No tweets from anyone around Music City on that subject. Polanski and Letterman are hot topics ... too hot for Country artists to wanna get anywhere near on record.

Garth Brooks news conference in a few weeks ... on what? Vegas? Never try to predict what the G man is up to.

How about the girls of 2009 ... Taylor Swift, is she getting the Entertainer of the Year votes I hear buzzed about? What a year for both blonde bombers ... Carrie just had 110,236 digital downloads in a week for "Cowboy Casanova." What would Music Row look like if no Carrie or Taylor in 2009? Can't even guess.

The Entertainer of the Year CMA Award has been discussed a lot in the last week on and off the air. Unless you are voting with a financial bias (and many do), the stats are hard to ignore for Taylor. The momentum, too. Young viewer s... Brad will get it in 2010 ... 2009 could very well be the year of the TAYLOR!

Farm Aid only on Direct TV? Shouldn't this show be seen on other channels, too? TNN in its day was good to early Farm Aid.

Does Tim re-enter? George Strait a stadium veteran ... I'm sure talk is going strong as we speak ... next year comes very fast when you are planning a big tour.
