What Can Be Done About …

Two disturbing stories this week (actually a lot more than two, but …), these two involve on-stage acts of violence against Bebe Rexha and Ava Max. One was hit by a flying cell phone, and the other slapped in the face while she was performing.
You could have protected them with armed soldiers and both incidents could have still occurred. Security concerns come up every once in a while, but these two were very troubling.
Some of you understand the upcoming AI revolution better than others. I get how they did magic on the old Beatles material to create “Get Back.” The manipulation of voices I can visualize that too. The issue this week is very troubling: Lainey Wilson and Luke Combs AI creations appearing to be selling/pitching weight loss gummy bears. (Editor’s note: Miranda Lambert has been a target of these scammers as well.)
If these people can do this, do you really think all they want is your weight loss money?
Nobody wants the Feds going half-cocked into new technology laws when most can’t set up a new iPhone. Something better get started though. Awful things are on the horizon if not wrangled. The Grammy people are already talking about what can and can’t get a Grammy if AI is used.
Another thing that can’t get legislated is the weather. With that said, were there no forecasts for bad weather at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado? Golf and tennis ball-sized hail, and 80-90 people treated, some for broken bones, including seven or eight who were hospitalized. Thought everyone had weather awareness after more than a few very bad weather events at concerts.
Do we ever learn from the past? It would seem not.
Back to AI for a minute, have you seen the young midday jock, Ashley Elzinga, that taught AI her voice and show, then turned it loose in Portland, OR? Let’s vote.
Her job is secure? OK. Anyone impressed with the software (faint and fall over)? OK, Google “AI Ashley Live 95.5” … WOW! And not a good WOW, just WOW!
Tony Jackson is one solid singer/performer. Has some new material out. I bring this up because he’s traditional, and not just singing about beer and trucks. Look for him.
Are the six songwriters on most Music Row songs told to write about beer and trucks? I’ve watched this process for over 40 years. The drops of oil just seem to float to the surface.
I keep seeing new names, then I’m told, “Oh yeah, I’ve known about him/her,” but those people remain like underground figures.
Just strange times for music to the weather. No Country folks made the Kennedy Center Honors this year.
When will AI be able to write books, and shoot pictures? We already know it can write lyrics.
