More “modern” construction is headed for Music Row, with plans to tear down more houses and put in apartment buildings. Berry Hill seems to be more Music Row than Music Row. It was such a cool idea when the industry could have a few blocks where most of the business would take place. It was very unique.
They tore down the Sound Shop Recording studio and one of the original RCA studios on McGavock Street. The Music Row area, every day, is becoming more of a memory.
What’s the theory on why the charts are so slow lately? The Top 6 this week was the Top 6 last week. Maybe everyone is home with Omicron watching both seasons of “Emily in Paris.”
Dolly Parton is nominated for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Bill Monroe is already there. So are the Everly Brothers, Hank Williams, Chet Atkins, Jimmie Rodgers, Bob Wills, Brenda Lee and Floyd Cramer. Dolly should go in, too.
See where Parker McCollum has been selling NFTs to his fan club members? The Gold Chain Cowboy Black Card: Signature Edition is one of the world’s first fan club NFTs. Now, who can explain what is an NFT? It sold out quickly.
Who wins with the announcement of the Grammys, with the CMT Music Awards and the ACM Awards all taking place within weeks of each other?
ACMs: Monday March 7th
Grammys: Sunday April 3rd
CMTs: Monday April 11th
The ratings are so down for award shows of any kind. Maybe that trend will change this year. Not holding my breath.
Always good when you see a video/song marriage that complement each other. Lee Brice has the latest one with “Soul.” The song is fun, and so is the video. Almost a little retro. Looks like he has his 9th #1.
Wonder if anyone got fired after the Walker Hayes Kansas City halftime concert. The CBS team was set up near a loudspeaker. It was like nothing heard or seen before. They just kept going. You couldn’t hear anything but distorted music. What a mess! A TV issue, not on Mr. Fancy Like.
Paramount+ seems to be a very friendly streaming service to Country with “Yellowstone” and “1883.” One of the most important albums in Country music history was the soundtrack to “Urban Cowboy.” Now, Paramount plans to turn that movie into a TV series. They also plan to use period music. “Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places” was the best of that, but there were so many great songs.
And Mickey Gilley should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame!
