There are 70 something days left in 2020, around six million seconds, or 20% of the year. Help!
Can’t really take much more of this year, but we have to.
Alabama’s coach and the president got the virus, so how does that look for the rest of us? Many radio stations are still working remotely, and things on the advertising front are anything but 2019. Political ads are saving the day!
So, Music Row really only has eight weeks left in the year since mid December is close down time. Belmont University at the top of Music Row will be out before Thanksgiving, like other colleges.
John Lennon once wrote, “So this is Christmas / What have we done / Another year older.” So, are we moving out of this stagnant slump?
Maybe so. The Billboard Music Awards show on October 14th was way too political, but the production values were good. The Garth Brooks Icon Award segment with full band and the medley was first class. The piped-in audience was fake, but necessary. Garth so needs that audience for his act to breathe. Still, it was done as well as it could have been. It had ambition under difficult circumstances. Garth will hopefully get his faithful back in their seats this coming spring.
Still wondering what the CMA is going to do, and what the CMT folks are doing with their all over town outside spectacular on Wednesday, October 21st. It’s award show-palooza time with shows every week. Way too many, but its 2020!
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is doing a live YouTube show that is way overdue. Get those vintage musical instruments out of the locker and have them played by the next generation of entertainers. On October 28th they will do just that with Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Kane Brown and so many more. This will be very cool. Tell your friends! The Country Music Hall of Fame really suffered this year financially.
The Titans are providing a badly need shot of Nashville pride. They will hopefully keep winning. Charlie Daniels would have been so happy!
The Presidential debate comes to the Music Row area on Thursday October 22nd (the day after the CMT Awards). This will really mess up traffic and be a huge security lockdown. Better plan your life accordingly that day.
Glad to see Jason Aldean in the studio where most artists should be during this forced downtime. The next great album for everyone should be in the works.
We have been treading water for seven months and it feels like seven years. Hopefully after the election some things will get better. The politics will be over for a while and who knows what will happen? Europe is COVID struggling, but we have to keep hoping that the doctors have more answers every day and music people can start making money again. We can hope!
