This weekend the Academy of Country Music will turn a few rookies into promising artists. It's not impossible some could leave with a dose of stardust.
Dan & Shay have gone from rookie to promising artist and stars in a very fast arc. They had a bit of a hard time getting in the air, but once they did ... BOOM.
The Billboard Music Awards in May have given Dan & Shay seven nominations. The ACMs Sunday night have the mighty duo in six award categories. The Grammy win was the moment the boys hit the fast track. In a few short years they gone from playing on the beach deck at the Holiday Inn Resort in Panama City, FL to national TV and soon and international tour with a pop star, Shawn Mendes.
Hard work and patience and two great all-genre loving songs did it. Their stage presence and talent were there when the right songs took roots and grew the beanstalks. This is the ride where you better take notes, movies and pictures because someday when things slow down, you will need help remembering.
Nashville friend Mick Jagger resting at NY Presbyterian after a TAVR -- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement. He should recover in a few weeks. The rescheduled tour announcement will come soon.
Loretta Lynn's 87th birthday party this week was the biggest love-in I've ever attended. Lifted the roof off The Bridgestone arena at times.
The huge, sad part is no future TV airing of the event. It was GREAT! The star performances were major league. It would have been a fast amazing one hour or 90 minute AXS, Netflix or Apple Music special. The new kids singing for the legend was so great. Brandi Carlile was the most surprising. Sang "She's Got You." It showed off her controlled vocal power. A WOW!
Kasey Musgraves makes everything look easy. She is so good.
Miranda was very much in her element channeling her inner Loretta for "Don't Come Home a Drinkin Wth Lovin On Your Mind."
It was so nice to hear the songs that night. Pure Country. Rich vocals and styles. Loretta amazed. Keith Urban ... so talented!
And anytime Alan and George Strait get to sing, it's a good night. Garth, Tanya. So sad that a wide international audience couldn't get to see what real Country music sounds like.
