Last Sunday was a shocker for everyone around Music City ... A crazy, naked gunman went on a killing spree at a SE Davidson County Waffle House. The manhunt and arrest took up a lot of our mind time this week.
A mass murderer on the loose for 36 hours got everyone's attention. A cook, a Belmont University nursing Senior among the dead.
This week Brantley Gilbert was among the music people stepping up to raise money for the families of the dead. An all too frequent occurrence over the last few gun and storm tragic years. But Music City knows how to step up and will again when called upon.
As the sun shines brightly for a change around here, the first big weekend of the Summer movie season begins with the Avengers ... In Alabama, Fox Sports is ready for the Talladega NASCAR crash fest ... in Dallas, the NFL Draft continues ... Brad Paisley wraps up his two-year Weekend Warrior tour in Bemidji, MN (seeking Google to help me find that one).....
As May begins, Jason Aldean better be happy because you can't have a better April than he did! ACM EOY, #1 album and single ... He's on top of the hill...
Look right below, Jason ... the second career #1 is fast approaching for Kane Brown, Heaven.
Springtime here is the Fall down under, where Kip Moore is sending back reports of five sold-out shows and nice big crowds. Old Dominion has the U.K. on the books for November.
Newcomer Steve Moakler sent out pictures of a crashed van he was driving near Asheville, NC. Roads were wet and Steve said, "We are glad to be alive!" Part of the rough part of this business is travel. The roads, the skies, the averages. The road is the bad part, playing is the great part. The road takes more of your time.
The Nashville Film Festival returns May 10th-19th at the Regal Hollywood 27 in 100 Oaks. A Steven Tyler documentary, Out On A Limb, will debut as will a much-anticipated documentary about Tower Records, All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records.
I remember the one near Vanderbilt on West End. One day in line to buy a CD or DVD I looked behind me and in line was Bonnie Raitt ... another time it was Steve Winwood ... At The Sunset Blvd store, you never knew who would pop into that place ... Great memories ... Record stores for children of the '50s, '60s, '70's and a little in the '80s were places of wonder ... You wanted it all!
