It was a crazy seven days for Music City! Snow, below-zero wind chills as a few thousand fans and a handful of stars headed to a Country music party in Mexico.
The weather ended up sunny and above freezing as the week ended, but the Yucatan with Luke, Blake and others sounded pretty good.
It was a week of freezing but also so many tour announcements! Urban, Aldean and Lady A ... and there were probably others. Bon Jovi, too.
The Keith Urban PR machine is very good. They made an event out of what some do as a mass e-mail. Keith announced on social media a pop-up show at the Exit In and a few hours later he was on stage for the 350 lucky cyber-aware fans. His opening act Kelsea Ballerina was there, too. It was streamed online for a portion of the show and they had a novel way of letting fans hold up signs for all 58 of the tour stops ... Making what could be routine seem anything but. Very smart Keith Urban has been on top for a long time because his people always do things right.
Kenny Chesney jumping the Sony ship for Warner was " a big deal," using Kenny's words to describe it.
There has been talk for a few months, but the trigger was pulled and the Hollywood press broke the story. The official press release included a backporch picture from Kenny's Malibu beach pad.
Carrie left the label last year and the wait for her next song is no longer ... kind of ... As her NBC Super Bowl song
The champion is out there. She has been in the studio and the new music will come out when it's ready to come out, as they say.
Speaking of new music, Dierks Bentley went to Colorado to create his new album, The Mountain. Telluride on the Western side of the Rockies as long been an artsy place and that's where he recorded this ninth album in his career.
The first single debuted on Ellen ½8, "Woman, Amen."
The song is different from most everything on the radio and that was his intention. Dierk's music has never been cookie-cutter Country. Bright sound for this first song and powerful. Feels very personal. Always fun to see what he will do next.
If you have not discovered Alexa, you really should. Some radio bosses have not coordinated with the Alexa people for their stations. iHeart has done a great job ...You can learn from their digital work, that's for sure. Calling out ... "Alexa, play KFI Los Angeles," and she does just like that..
It's great ... it is the future for the home and the car! Better get on board this train. Aome still don't have their web streaming right. Hard to figure not doing that.
But some have an undependable stream. People will go somewhere else..
Grammy time is a coming. What will the ratings and interest be this year for the Country fan? Award show burnout, etc. Do you feel any great anticipation heat?
