Country Fried Grammys And Apples

CBS gets a hip-hop/rap Grammys for 2018. Music made in Nashville just didn't make the cut this time around in the major categories. Like the Oscars, The Grammys can be a fickle event .

For so many years The Grammys were behind the curve; just check the award record for the Beatles. The list is very long of some of the greatest hits of pop not being the greatest hits of the Grammys.

The Grammy voters seem to have favorites ... Quincy Jones, Sting, Vince Gill and Allison Krauss have shelves full of those little gramophones.

Don't try to stop and figure it award show voting. It is what it is ... you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

From my seat, there were some worthy tunes and projects but not many with national critical and cultural traction. The Grammys TV show is what gets nominated, so the mute function may be used a lot on that mid-winter night.

The big story that's a preoccupation with entertainment journalist these days -- sexual misconduct ... We know there's been very little to no sexual misconduct in the halls of Music Row.

Or so it would seem at this point ... The Kirt Webster story was the start and maybe a finish.

You know that's a joke.

But as we've seen in broadcast news circles, taking down one like Charlie Rose certainly made it easier to take out another like Matt Lauer.

You have to wonder where the story is going to end from the Pacific to the Atlantic and everywhere in between ... Will Bill O'Reilly ever come back and what about Matt Lauer?

Some are wondering if this is going to affect meet-and greets with stars ... several big pop stars do not touch their fans now ... they do meet-and-greets that do not involve physical contact of any kind. You saw what happen with Taylor Swift and the butt grab.

One act told me this week that you couldn't count how many times he's been pinched on the ass by fans ...

God forbid we ever find out that there have been sexual acts inside TV/radio stations! That would cause an earthquake ... the shock heard round the world ..

Some of the media is out of control, playing fast and loose with unnamed sources. The accuser has to be presumed to be telling the truth. The consequences are often very great ... We are all sure bad things have happened to women and men in the Nashville music scene. Stars and groupies ... and all the rest.

So those who live in glass houses ... you know how that ends.

These are crazy times. Social media blows up every time a new name is revealed.

The bad folks using their power to do bad things need to go.
