Seven shows and over 100,000 tickets sold for Garth's last stop on this three-year World Tour.
December 9th-23rd ... doing sort of a Music City residency.
Two different sale days and the Ticketmaster system held together, but getting a ticket to any show was difficult ...100,000 sold and still selling those 300 section high-up seats.
And also selling that box set called Anthology with a book and five CDs for under 25 bucks. No one in Country is even close to that rare air.
One other Nashville-based act is close. Had to be trained at the Brooks/Borchetta University ... Taylor Swift.
Going for 27 stadium shows in 2018. Selling a million albums in four days. Not giving all their music to the songwriter rips off thieves. Brilliant, perfect plan. And Taylor going to a local Target and just showing up, being the perfect star.
A co-worker just happened on her in the store. Said she was kind to all the store customers getting more than they planned for. Selfies, autographs and vital social media. Like Garth, a rolling PR machine!
Garth and Taylor dance on the show biz razor blade and accomplish the impossible.
Two more miracle makers were in the spotlight all week. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. From Beverly Hills accepting a touring award to Nashville opening an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Then to NYC for Tonight and Today. Announcing more tour dates in 2018 and a Showtime special. They carved out a big media space as Blake Shelton got big coverage for the People Magazine Sexiest cover.
Never heard about a post-CMA sales bump? Leading up to Thanksgiving, the "A" acts are making a lot of news. Social media is such a dangerous playground. The angry, mean people who roam the field give off enough bad karma to make you ill. Toxic playground might be a better term. Just outright mean. The political world has set to tone probably add to that the economy for most is still not good. The fans are not happy and that is very sad.
There is much to be thankful for ... Tim and Faith did a lot of thanking this week and the Hall of Fame. It's not often that high-powered career people do a hard stop and say a huge thanks to all who helped get them to the top. I bet it felt good to them and it was nice to see that real emotion and some tears. Nashville is a pretty cool place sometimes. Like Hollywood, it can be fake but sometimes the real shines through. With Tim and Faith and Taylor, it did for a few minutes.
May you all be thankful this holiday and every day for that matter. We are all very fortune people.
