CMT did their Artist of the Year show this week and felt like they needed to be somewhat subdued. Probably the right call. They chose to take "we'll get through this" approach.
Jason Aldean was on stage when the Las Vegas began. With all the terrible news this year, how do you throw a huge party? 2017 has been horrible! Just when you pass one disaster, here comes another one. Never ending..
The CMA show planners are certainly going to take some of that tone into their show. Three hours of ABC airtime can't be a reliving of the bad things of 2017 like a super fundraising telethon. Still, Las Vegas and the natural disasters have to be addressed. Will be tricky!
The Opry was festive as Chris Young became the newest and one of the youngest brought on board as a member. Chris was humble and emotional as he soaked in the night.
Brad Paisley handled the induction and told the audience that Chris gets it ... He will make the most of the membership. Chris showed us a side we don't normally see when he sang some Marty Robbins and Keith Whitley prior to his induction. His voice was smooth and rich singing a song like "Devil Woman." Thirty-two years old and wide open spaces ahead. A new album and tour in the next few months.
Kenny Chesney is back in the groove. Got his new CD, Live In No Shoes Nation. A double-CD party for those buying physical. KC also announced is 18-city stadium tour in 2018. Thomas Rhett opening for him. Smart play to pay your opening act good money for stadium shows ....lots of seats to fill!
The tours of 2018 are filling up. Carrie Underwood took one date publicly so far in late Summer. Brad Paisley has plenty to do in 2018. So many acts keeping their plans under wraps for now.
Brad Paisley's unique video album is now on VEVO after living on Apple Music for a time. Love & War is the album with 16 videos. Brad was able to pull it off with lots of help and coordination. And he didn't break the bank.
Radio playing radio-friendly songs is one thing ... an artist making an actual album with diverse songwriting and themes is another.
Go search out the fun Mick Jagger track or the classic John Fogerty. The Johnny Cash poem Brad turned into a song and video is maybe the best thing you might never see or hear outside this project.
Lost album cuts ... I can remember several on my favorite Glen Campbell albums ... Beatles of course ... There is great music beyond to Top 40!
Busy three weeks ahead in BNA ... The Kenny Rogers Goodbye events ... The CMA Show and this weekend's Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Time to organize clothes for many!
