The NFL season is underway and with it comes talk of the Super Bowl halftime show. Adele was a first choice ... and that went away. Now it's Lady Gaga. Hmmm....
First I think Gaga impressed a lot of people with her Tony Bennett association. If she gets this one, then she gets it.
But if not now when can Country music get another show? Yes, Country was featured during the halftime of Super Bowl 28 in Atlanta. I didn't get what they were trying to do ... The Judds, Clint Black, Tanya Tucker and Travis Tritt. The song selection was interesting. It was not a touchdown, basically.
Country music has been featured as National Anthem singers par excellence, from Carrie Underwood to Faith Hill and the controversial Garth Brooks appearance.
(Google that one if you need to know more)
This year's Super Bowl is in Houston, Texas in the kind-of-new NRG Stadium. Houston the home of Space, Oil and Beyonce! Why not reflect Texas and Houston in the halftime show and themed through the week?
Gaga is a New York gal living in California ... Let her do this another year, another place. I say Go Texas BIG!
Big Texas stage theme and let Beyonce have the lead role. She's from Houston ... then get into ZZ Top and Willie Nelson ... Pull out George Strait and Miranda.
With NBC showing the game get Blake and Carrie in there. Get a hot Latin music act ... and Beyonce with, say, a young, up-and-coming Beyonce ... Multicultural ... Big names ... Showcases NBC and the Texas music scene...
Have Gaga host the segment if Beyonce won't. She can sing with Willie ... George ... That would be a moment...
Just a thought. Country needs another Super Bowl shot!
The Jason Aldean awardless season continued with The CMT Artists of the Year announcement.
All five had great years: Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line. CMT had a great year, too ... They should give themselves an award. Saving Nashville and all around good work.
The CMA starting to reveal their 50th anniversary plans. The song and music video, "Forever Country," 30 artists in a "we are the world" kind of thing. Get your formal wear out for the evening of November 2nd.
The week before, the newest inductions into the Nashville-based Musicians Hall of Fame. Garth's band The G-Men going into the Hall. They deserve the attention! Road/recording bands are not common over the years in Nashville. So for this one to get past all the session players is amazing. The Musicians Hall of Fame is an excellent museum. Nashville has so many excellent places to view music history. Studio B, Johnny Cash and George Jones museums ... The CMHF all done well.
The Fall temperatures are coming ... Can't come soon enough!
