Worst Week Ever!

For many people it was the worst week since 9/11. How many tragedies can one city like Orlando take in one week? Glad to see Country music stepping up for the big fundraiser at UCF Arena in East Orlando Tuesday, raising money for the families of the nightclub mass murder. The child and the gator ... The murder of The Voice finalist Christina Grime ... all in one week ... all in one town ... Deadly heat in parts of the country ... The Summer of 2016 is on ... and it has to get better.
The multiple tragedies made it hard for Country morning shows to have fun and made it hard for programmers to find the right tone ... No matter how often we face tragedy it remains hard to find the right words and songs ... In times like these.
The CMA Music Fest post-game is underway. Big strong crowds for sure. The tone of the event had to change a bit for Sunday night for sure and even a little for Saturday. It was just 15 hours or so when the artist began arriving for soundcheck after the nightclub murders. Many artist dedicated their sets and the local news coverage was cut, focusing instead on the murders.
The CMA Week was hot ... that's the first thing you remember. The "IT" girl this year was easily Maren Morris. She was everywhere. "'80s Mercedes" should be a big hit for her.
Blake Shelton was the big star. You saw Blake at a Hall of Fame news conference but his fun press moments are far fewer now that he is in high demand. There is plenty of Blake, no doubt about that. But all stars back away from the cameras when they are where he is. I don't think many people would actually enjoy being that famous. All eyes were looking for him all week as he showed up at a club for a surprise show, at the stadium, at the Ryman for a show and the Hall of Fame ... Blake's music is going to #1. All systems seem to be go. Saw fans chasing his car down the street. I have never seen that happen in Nashville before.
Miranda met the press and she seemed well. Excited about playing and getting her new music out maybe later this Summer. She seemed a little shy but maybe she always was pre-Blake.
Several impact artists ... many talking about artist Chris Janson. Been watching him since before "Buy Me A Boat."
Very fun, energetic performer. Great with media ... Keep an eye on him.
Still waiting for Mo Pitney to break out ... He was great! Hope we have a hit before next CMA fest.
She's gone but Taylor Swift not forgotten. Her love life issues were a diversion from the horrible headlines this week.
Brad Paisley in Grand Junction and Laughlin Nevada this weekend flying West from NYC GMA where he accompanied Demi Lovato on her song "Stone Cold." Brad and Demi's video came out today "Without A Fight." They have great chemistry. She is a Texan and can really sing.
Country music is trying to find a sound these days. In the meantime, many pop artists are stopping by for a visit. Nothing new about that. I personally enjoy the out-of-Country collaborations.
Followed Garth on a station in Louisiana this morning. He was on promoting his Boosier City shows this Summer. It remains amazing hearing about his energy and the singalong nature of the multiple generational music event.
The murder of Ms. Grimmie and the 49 dead at the nightclub will have lasting effects. Something will be done with meet-and -greets. Unknown people having access to backstage and the star ... This is growing more and more unsatisfactory.
Happy Father's day to all the Dads...
