Thursday May 12th was the day the axe fell in the Nashville show biz world ... An 11th hour execution of the ABC show, "Nashville."
ABC pink-slipped Castle, The Muppets, Agent Carter, Galavant and The Family. The day was called a "bloodbath" as Fox chopped off 5 of its prime time shows.
Nashville finished its fourth season shooting April 1st with the final cliffhanger episode set for May 25th. The production shot two different endings and few know how it will end. Really the end, so fans will most likely leave frustrated.
Nashville was a great tourism commercial for the city of Nashville. The state and city paid the producers over $46 million to keep them shooting in Tennessee. They were prepared to give another $10 million. The new programming boss at ABC just wanted to clean house.
Deacon, Rayna , Juliette Barnes now head into rerun land with millions of fans still interested. Could Amazon, CMT, Netflix pick them up? That is the cliffhanger we leave you with today.
The autopsy will be performed at a later date.
"Transitioning to Pop" ... that's what multiple published reports say about The Band Perry. The group parted ways with Big Machine and have landed at L.A.-based Interscope Records. Is anyone really surprised by this? Their style and music should fit in pop just like Taylor Swift did. Bye bye!
Nashville's dream of the Stanley Cup dashed ... bloody Thursday as San Jose extinguished the Predators' dreams .... Carrie Underwood's husband was overall a bright light in the playoffs ...
The town was really getting in to those games, too.
Brad Paisley's new song with Demi Lovato is a hot Summer power ballad, "Without a Fight." Brad will have this song and others on a new album coming out in the Fall. Demi and Brad will sing it on an upcoming Jimmy Kimmel Show.
Good Morning America getting the big Country stars this Summer for their Summer Concert Series ... Paisley, Urban, Aldean and Chesney ... The morning show booking battles are hotter than ever ... Will be interesting to see what the Today Show comes up with...
