There isn't much to say that hasn't been screamed this week on the Shelton/Lambert divorce. It was a huge story for the entertainment pages of newspapers, the Internet and television. They were the Ken and Barbie of Country and the fans loved them as a couple. They will be missed around award-show time. Miranda will be winning more awards this Fall, so this book is hardly finished. Just that chapter in their books.
How fast and efficient was all that? Never heard of a multi-million dollar divorce start and end that fast. And everyone involved kept their mouths shut. In 2015 that is amazing.
What we did see this week is an issue every business and every celebrity has to deal with and try to manage. Social media reaction to something you are doing or have done. The traditional new media (ET, TMZ, Access Hollywood) all got major leaks from someone in the Shelton/Lambert world. TMZ first, then not as reliable others. TMZ lost their mojo insider early and went off the story quickly when no one would talk. Others simply made up stories like Hollywood Life.
People had someone on the inside but they have to control their tabloid tendencies since they are so involved with deals and access. They didn't want to piss anyone off. People is the Pravda of Country music and Hollywood. They generally have the PR or management feeding them the info. Relationships get touchy at times like death and divorce.
Very sad story ultimately ... found that comment from many who have covered them and like one or the other or both.
Country music at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena first time every this Saturday Night when Chesney and Aldean hit that free green valley. Great place for a football game and hope the tailgaters on a drunk-a-thon behave and are not pigs in the parking lots and behind people's houses, where many park at Rose Bowl events. Hope it is a huge success.
The Summer concert season is rolling along with the Northwest USA part of the season about to come up. Watershed in George, WA is an amazing venue. Sixes, OR, Camrose, Alberta all in the next few days. Fire season out West ... heat. Good luck in the Idahos ,Washingtons, Oregons ... Big Sky Country....
Anyone remember '90s Country singer Daron Norwood? If you listen to some of his songs, you might. "If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have you!" a few other in the early '90s. He is dead at age 49 natural causes in Texas.
August 8th at the Opry, Connie Smith celebrates 50 years on Country music's greatest stage. Married Marty Stuart in 1997 and is one of the finest singers in Country music history; most every girl singer in the format admires her!
The beautiful new downtown amphitheater opens in the coming week ... That is going to be a game-changer in Nashville ... hoping the acoustics are good ... we shall see in the days ahead ...
