Oh What A Beautiful Sight!!!

To stand in the middle of Houston's huge NRG Stadium and look up at over 75,000 Country music fans is impressive!

Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Blake Shelton all played to over 75,000 paid at RodeoHouston. That's a big number ... four times more than an average night at a local amphitheatre.

Country music is pretty healthy when it can pull off numbers like that! The merchandise sales were huge, too, as Country music fans are spending money at their venues. The Country concert business is in very good shape.

With ear monitors plugged into the system directly, the stars don't hear much of the audience. But they are loud and the atmosphere is electric ... Next year many of the Country acts will be back invited back to show off to the masses ... a few maybe not. The big rodeos are still promoting Western Heritage. It is so great to watch it in action. You all need a dose of Texas rodeo every year! I highly recommend it.

Charlie Daniels needs to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame! Simple as that. The secret committee needs to get over it and figure out what category he fits in and do it ...

Every year the Hall of Fame falls farther behind ... 217 names in the whole history of Country music! Stars, pickers, publishers, behind-the-scenes people. And get to these people while they are breathing! The fans should have some input because you name people such as Hank Williams Jr, Charlie Daniels, Ray Stevens, Alan Jackson and Randy Travis ... and the fans do a Say What? Not to mention Johnny Horton and Dottie West. It should be a rare honor. But the names above. Hard to justify to a fan of this beloved music.

At least Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap and the Oaks have been brought in. That was getting real hard to talk about. Grady Martin this year was 20 years overdue! The A Team should have been brought in as a group instead of one at a time. They all were important! God bless Brenda Lee for pushing Grady Martin as hard as she did!

Wish someone would do The Wrecking Crew kind of movie for Nashville ...The Nashville Cats or A team whatever are very unsung heroes. All those session players in Memphis, L.A., Detroit, Muscle Shoals, NYC, Philly all have great stories.

"Twenty Feet from Stardom" is an Oscar winning documentary. I hope someone gets The Wrecking Crew nominated. And at some point, make sure you see the Glen Campbell documentary. I would watch it again tonight if available.

Kenny Chesney is back at work. A million ticket pre-sale is fantastic but not really amazing. His fans are loyal and were out in force on a rainy cold Nashville night to get some musical sunshine. If you ever wonder why Kenny ultimately made it ... It's that his music makes people happy. "American Kids" to "When the Sun Goes Down" and "No Shoes" are just happy songs. Brighten your day! Making someone's day brighter is a great thing. Kenny does it every time he goes out on that stage. Glad he is back at work.

The Opry at 90 celebration is off and running. Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel created an Opry moment the other night when Brad Paisley joined the band for the classic, "Miles and Miles of Texas" ...wish that was for sale ... I would buy it!
