Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville
Where do we start? Garth and his new iTunes? Ghosttunes.com. By now you have done homework on this project. Steve Jobs could never get Garth to see things his way. And ever seen a price like $30 bucks for all of Garth's catalogue? A million songs ... I'm still a little confused on why I need to go here other than to get Garth cheap and not go to iTunes. I like iTunes ... I will try this site over the weekend. I hope it can be trusted, secure, etc.?
A million questions on this one...
Meanwhile back at headquarters ...What about that new Garth Brooks song? Everyone seems to have an opinion. I'm not really sure what I was expecting. His mission was to get on the radio again. Check back in three weeks and let's see where we are on this one.
The Garth world was always exciting. He knows how to grab a headline even on the first week of football and the CMA nominations.
Ah, the CMA nominations. Did the voters make some statements or what? You can read things into nominations that may or may not be the intention or just a coincidence.
The main question or first look: The voters are not wild about "Bro-Country." It doesn't make sense really if that is truly how the gang voted. This stuff is making big money and yes, it is stretching the boundaries of the Country format.
The Aldean facto r... zero nominations on such a huge year? That kind of snub creates a credibility of the awards issue right? His work success with concerts, CD sales ...you name it ...Okay, he got divorced and pissed off some fans, kept a low profile during this family uproar, which is not unusual behavior. He is on an independent label. (Is that still a big deal?) I don't know. Regardless, that was a huge and loud snub.
Brantley Gilbert? And Justin Moore? More "Bro" but had big years and solid work. None of Luke's songs nominated ... which were all huge.
Ignoring again Rascal Flatts ... but that is a crowded vocal category. Kenny and Brad and Tim in Male vocals and EOY but, again, crowded field. It's a crowded race track with almost all male competitors. Miranda might just take everything if the lady voters want to make a statement. If disgruntled voters want to really make a statement, they vote for George Strait for EOY.
Politics and award show voting in Nashville. You see it with the Grammys and CMAs. Certain artists that don't play by the unwritten rules face the consequences. Some of those rules are now fictional but what is true ... when on "double secret probation," you rarely get off the list..
Always love it when the non-nominated in any award show say they don't care about awards. That is such a load of horse manure! One newly minted Nashville DJ vented his "I don't care" in the local paper the morning after the nominations. Whoops ... that stuff never reads well. That the old school voters need to die off ... I don't care about awards. Seen that ... heard that. Most read their own words later and wish for a recall. I would think that is very true in this case.
All is not well in paradise! The foot soldiers and some of the officers are not happy. The natives are restless!!
There was a sweet story in the middle of all this ... Carrie Underwood expecting. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
What a week! Kick-offs ... kicked to the curb...Yee Haw! Fall is here!
