Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
I don't think anyone seeks the crown ... or the pressure that might go with it ... BUT who is hotter than Luke Bryan right now?
It was announced with some fanfare that Luke would be the first country artist booked in the sort-of-new Barclay'Center in Brooklyn. That's a big deal if it works ... and it should ... He did well at The Garden, so what's another subway stop?
I think I read it right ... Luke's folks plan for over 10 stadium shows in 2015? Maybe even more?
Luke does have national appeal and he is throwing a huge party like the Chesney/Buffett shows.
Luke shows no chart weakness ... he is the Energizer Bunny when he can keep on the stage.
Congratulations, Luke Bryan... you got there the good way ... you adapted ... evolved and worked your butt off ... so to speak.
Now what does Kenny do on his return? The new song is a big hit and the whole album is going to be good ... Does the audience pick up where he left off? Is there room for two beach parties?
To be seen...
George Strait's $18 million night! How amazing was that! Beat the one-night record held by U2 at the Rose Bowl; that's nothing short of amazing. George Strait had one of the weirdest careers in the history of show business ... It was like he was the reluctant astronaut. Nobody ever did it better, nobody ever made it look easier. You know George would rather be fishing around the golf course, which was perfectly fine with the fence as long as he showed up one or two days a month. Who else could get away with that? There is no substitute for George Strait.. There was no substitute for Frank Sinatra. Nobody ever matched what the Beatles did.
I hope George comes back, does a couple rodeos every year, and play some long stretches in Vegas so if we want to pay $300, we can to see you. Hopefully, that's not too much to ask Fans can be greedy.
This is the weekend that we try to reinvent "American Idol"... ABC's "The Rising Star" ... Mixing social media with live television. IF Fox hadn't gotten lazy they would've done this first; they had the franchise. This just might make it -- if it truly is live and dangerous. It's Sunday night in the summer ... it's got a chance..
Dierks Bentley has a new theme song on the History Channel ... It's for a custom motorcycle show; it's really good.
It's now the summer of 2014 ... The outdoor festivals from eastern Canada to the Watershed in Washington ... From the coast of Oregon to British Columbia ... Camrose to Craven ... Country USA. It's time to go outdoors if you live in the colder climates of the U.S.... Summerfest in Milwaukee after very hard winter ... It's time for all the talent to work hard. And the fans to drink and sweat...
Tim McGraw is working real hard on the festival circuit .... Check out that revealing story in Men's Health magazine ... Sometimes I wonder if people tell too much..
Just walked out of the movie Jersey Boys ... Oldest audience in the movies I've ever been to ... It's a great story; it's a true story of the Four Seasons.. A group that got their name from a fluorescent sign above the bowling alley. Great music and it's true ... well worth seeing ... Clint Eastwood did a wonderful job.. Starts a little slow but picks up. I definitely give it an A-....
I hope we all have a good summer.
