20 degrees in Florida is crazy ... I decided a week ago not to Grammy ... thought this Florida mission would be more useful. 7 degrees ... 5 degrees in Music City is not part of the deal.
Frost on the guitar strings for the Band Perry next week outside at the Super Bowl.
Luke Bryan got a great gig this week playing the Daytona 500 in late February. Country artist are getting high -profile dates.
The Grammys have never been a Country show. Hunter Hayes and Kacey Musgraves are outside-the-box artists. Taylor Swift is outside-the-box, inside-the-box and take-home-the-box; she may win Album of the Year ... the pop prognosticators say show say so anyway.
Those same show pickers say Kasie Musgrave's good -- went to three, maybe four Grammys.
That is all to be seen; can't wait to see Willy, Kris, Blake and Merle try out the Highwaymen "repaved"
CBS's charging almost $1 million for every 30-second spot. There will be plenty of eyeballs ... a minimum of 28 million in the U.S. and millions more around the world. The Grammys are a big deal; the Oscars of the music business.
George Strait is a big deal, too. Play just four shows ... 66,000 ticket buyers ... $6.1 million in sales. And the cowboy rides away tour is just beginning.
Garth Brooks knows how to do it. Instead of sending out a press release about going to Dublin, Ireland, he goes to Dublin, Ireland. When Garth goes, Garth goes big ... 100,000 and 130,000+ seats ... $83 a ticket ... you do the math. Garth will start his North American tour in the fall.
Jay Leno on 60 Minutes this weekend. Jay was a great friend to Country music. NBC did not do him right ever, but you won't hear him say it; he's got too much class. You may be tired of Jay Leno ... he is like an old shoe ...and maybe and it's time for Jimmy Fallon ... But NBC could wreck a one-car funeral. The way they handled The Today Show changed ... and really the way they handled this was awkward.
Finesses is not how corporate America controls itself. Look at this DirecTV versus the Weather Channel thing ... that's a mess.
Kenny Chesney's going to federal court to stop someone from stealing his trademark. Some T-shirt manufacturers using his guitar leaning against the palm tree logo. That is going to be an expensive T-shirt before it's over.
All the tours for summer ... maybe not all, but most of the tours for the summer are out. Thinking about a warm amphitheater sounds pretty good about right now.
