Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville
Disney #1 and #2 on the pop charts ... that's pretty interesting! Rascal Flatts pulling a Taylor Swift in the struggling economy and smoking the cash registers.
These guys are very deserving of the success. Good folks that work hard ... do a lot for Children's hospital ... have stayed nice even with their success. Have never understood why they don't get the respect they deserve, but hey, this is one peculiar place.
The tempest in a teapot story keeps going -- in fact, several tabloid stories of intrigue keep coming up. The Ms. Rimes video and the Kris/Toby we didn't have words stories. What was that video in the Rimes case and why is the man in that video running around everywhere getting pictures made with his wife? With Toby, Mrs. K says she remembers the event while Kris doesn't. Hmmmm
Mel Gibson is getting a lot of grief, too. Mel came to Music City to shoot a video for the "Maverick" movie. He was also here more than once, screening the "Passion" film for area people. Gibson is a complicated man. Interviewed him on a half-dozen occasions. Good man who has is demons and gives a lot of his money to people and places with no fanfare. He lost it when the divorce went down; give the man a break. His good far outweighs his mistakes when he was drunk!
Chesney's tour begins ... Sugarland already underway ... by now we know the verdict on the STICKS festival in Alabama. As of this writing, many people were concerned about its outcome/attendance. The concert biz is not for the faint-hearted or inexperienced. 1 plus 1 plus 1 doesn't always equal three in that world.
BamaJam seems to be "all systems go" for June. Great lineup for that show ... and Alan Jackson has added a lake show to his concert schedule. Not to far from the famed Kowliga famed Indian that Hank Williams, Sr. sang about. Sr. used to hang around not far from where AJ will be playing.
Tim McGraw is back in the movie business in what should be a good one - "The Blind Side." Hit book with an A-team bunch of filmmakers. Same director who did "The Rookie." Sandra Bullock is the wife and Tim is the hubby. Shooting in Atlanta very soon.
Raul Malo has a new video and music and it is fantastic. Loved the Mavericks and he's out with some more wonderful music.
Lots of folks trying to figure out all the flurry of programming info that CC put out a few days ago. No one seems to be sure if they are playing offense or defense ... and how does any or all of this effect Music Row.
One last note: Vince Gill is a Nashville treasure. He has such a good heart! Faith Hill is, too. I have my reasons. So much talent here in this city.
I watch "American Idol" and wonder is this the best of the crop? I hope not. This shrieking Adam is the lost love child of either Axl Rose or Ozzy!
