How great was the news on Randy Travis this week? Looks like he is going to make it ... but you knew this fighter would find a way. How great would it be to see him walk out on that CMA stage in November!

The Teen Choice and MTV Video nominations are out. Taylor Swift nominated in both ... FGL, too. Both hot properties in pop and country.

Parody can be considered a great compliment -- to some, maybe not. While researching trending YouTube videos ... the name Bart Baker. (A simple name I have difficulty remembering.) Bart Baker the YouTube parody master. Sort of a Weird Al Yankovic for the 21st century. I laughed and maybe you will. Google "Bart Baker YouTube" -- and boom ... Look up his work on Taylor, Miley, One Direction, for starters. Hope Taylor has a great sense of humor.

"Voice" winner Danielle Bradbery is off and running with her new song introduced this week on Today. She's young, almost 17, and seems ready to do this. Good luck, Danielle!

The CMA Awards aren't that far away ... Try handicapping that one. Will the love be spread around? The five nominations for Entertainer of the Year will be hard-fought. Carrie? Miranda? Taylor? Justin? Luke? Who in that five doesn't make the cut? All had fantastic years.

His Gospel CD was a sensation, so no reason this CD won't have the same support.

The whole stink about the cover of the Rolling Stone Magazine slides into the weekend . It is disgusting to see that dweeb get rock-star attention. Charles Manson got the same attention ... misdirected young girls ogling over him as they also did the murdering Melendez brothers. Bad move, Rolling Stone. I still like your magazine.

John Rich gets a TV show on the TV Guide network. I think it's going to be a hybrid of many kinds of shows and can't wait to see what he comes up with. It needs to be, in some way, mass appeal. Somewhere between Honey Boo Boo and Meet The Press. Hard to create anything new at this point in TV history, but fresh would be good.

It's Summer and the weather is predictable. The festival campers are tough and the music is plentiful this week from Wisconsin to Ohio. Stadium shows in Denver (Kenny), Philadelphia (Taylor) and Chicago (Aldean). Country music's muscle is flexing here in July 2013.

Things are way too quiet, though. Don't you just feel corporate radio plotting and planning? Has anyone put out a report card publicly on how these multi-station morning shows are doing? You get asked all the time and the answer is "I don"t know" ... ???

The power of the Internet. Is anything the same anymore since it kicked in? Any business? Still hard to imagine how radio stations in decent-sized places operate with two humans and a bunch of computers. The music business and broadcasting are still in a major evolution. Musical chairs underway ... you just feel it. All these bosses and fewer and fewer people to boss.
