Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
"American Idol" has been very good to Country music ... if it was only for Carrie Underwood you would have success, but the show has sent us a half-dozen others.
It will send another soon ... Kree Harrison. If Angie Miller had only pretended to be a little Country, she might be coming along to even bigger success.
The show's bosses have declared an in-flight emergency. "The Voice" now wins in the ratings as "Idol" has fallen from a season 6 30 million per episode to the current season 12 average of 11 million. From near a billion in revenue to much less.
The Fox chairman will likely fire the producers, the judges and make wholesale changes. Seacrest will stay and live to tell it all.
The judges are awful and the songs picked for the winners to sing each week are mostly off-track and the kids have never heard of them. The results: poor version of the originals and often lackluster performances. The show is in a mess! Simon's not coming back and that might be the only way to revive this sounds-sucking turkey!
I know Brad Paisley has to thank God everyday he did not get that "Idol" job.
"Idol" was a great show. It's been dying since season 5 ... "The Voic"e has a much better judges panel. They seem to like each other. The "It factor" is there with the judges. Not so much with the contestants. Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood can sure thank reality TV every time they hear themselves embraced by American radio.
"Idol" back auditioning in August in Atlanta, Boston, Austin and a few more. They don't have much time to fix things.
What is the Country singers' fascination with rappers? Florida/Georgia Line with Nelly. The list is getting long. The gene pool is getting very polluted! These side-things are fun and I presume successful. I just wish some of these new artists would discover some real "Country" singers .Maybe give them the private numbers for Ronnie Milsap, Don Williams, Patty Loveless, Hank Jr. Do something with these folks, too!
Can someone try and save the Country music genre? We need some purity. This dance toward pop radio was cute and now is sickening. Find the main vein for Country soon or we lose it ... and becomes just another form of watered-down pop.
Happy Mother's Day weekend ... plenty of good Country singing moms! Loretta, Jennifer, Faith, Martina, Hillary, Linda ... and so it goes...
