Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Some of the week read like a bad Bruce Willis movie. Elvis impersonator sends poison letters to the President ... Two brothers bomb the Boston Marathon in the name of who knows what. A fertilizer plant burns, then explodes, killing 10 first responders near Willie Nelson's childhood home in Texas. Broadcasters had their work cut out for them, short-staffed and all.
Country fans are not in short supply around Boston. It may not be the primary form of music, but that area fills football stadiums for Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean and Taylor Swift concerts. This is been a tragic week for the area and I'm sure Country artists will rise to the occasion when asked to help the many wounded with permanent injuries.
Willie had a concert planned for Austin anyway, so that has been turned into a benefit. Willie is always there to lend a helping hand.
When the fires, bombs and poison letters weren't taking front and center, you had a one-of-a-kind Hall of Fame fundraising shows.
Keith Urban and Vince Gill were the chief musical officers for the 4th All for the Hall. The Country Music Hall of Fame got a few hundred thousand and the fans got a show that was only to be held once.
So great to see some veterans show what they still have to give. Montgomery Gentry and Trace Adkins were as good as ever -- which is very good!
Keith and Vince had the amps on 10 and rolled through with Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Eric Church and a dozen others. It was impressive and unique. With Willie and Kris the closing acts, I would be hard-pressed to build a better event.
Ronnie Dunn sent out a Tweet this week: Why are some "Country music" acts going to Los Angeles to record? Not sure what that impliesm but pure Cuntry music in a traditional sense is in short supply. Even in Nashville. The jagged guitars and hot amps with tuned-up voices is Country 2013 ... recorded in Nashville and everywhere.
Ready for the Summer music tour season. Enough with the cold.
The Brad Paisley album Wheelhouse is #1 with songs like "Karate," "Harvey Bodine," "Beat This Summer" and "Southern Comfort Zone." Brad getting whacked on the head by Saturday Night Live was simply funny!
Kenny Chesney in Vegas this weekend as he beat the drum louder as his tour season heats up. Taylor vs. Kenny this year in box office totals ... toss-up right now.
