Jimmy Carter back in town
I came back from Spring Break in Florida and everyone was gone!
What a travel week ...The ruling class went to South by Southwest in Austin. Foo Fighers, McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Prince, Al Gore, Ashton Kutcher ... all there doing music, film and tech deals...
Houston keeps recycling the stars for the rodeo leading up to King George on Sunday night. Read the reviews for some blunt wakeup calls. The Houston Chronicle. Jake Owen and Dierks were the big surprises with Tim and Kenny not-so-well reviewed.
Tampa ... the Kenny Show with Eric Church firing up Sat 3/16 -- and that's a hot ticket. Omaha, the last few days for Taylor Swift, getting tons of attention this week. From the sales or lack of regarding the fashion magazines, to the fan mail found in the dumpster story, to her new show debut. The British papers capitalizing on Taylor with the mail story, her racy fashion choice on one of her 17 Red tour songs. The Harry Styles story still going in London. He allegedly said she was boring and that's why he was out ... Sells papers, I guess..
London all Country this weekend. With the paparazzi chasing Tim and Faith and the daughters through central London. The fact Faith had on a yellow parka made them easy to see from everywhere. Tim, Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill and Ms. Rimes all at the O2 arena for the first Country 2 Country Festival. Hope that is a huge success.
Down under, more acts and their families, in some cases. Hunter Rocks show with Rascal Flatts, Big & Rich, Chris Young, The Band Perry ... See, no one is in the Nashville!
Spring Break Panama City and Gulf Shores: Luke Bryan getting those eyeballs and bikinis by the tens of thousands. I was at Spinnakers for show one. Crazy with a capital C!!
Luke's career is on hyper-hot! His personality, the material, his energy ....is he the heir apparent to the next generation Chesney audience? I think so.
Wynonna and Kellie in Hollywood with Keith for TV shows.
Blake at the Houston Rodeo, then back to LA. NO ONE is left here this week.
Opry great Jack Greene has died at 83. He had two major classic hits: "There Goes My Everything" and "Statue of a Fool." Former band member of Ernest Tubb. CMA winner and very nice man. Alzheimer's got him.
Trace Adkins getting a lot of mileage out of the "Celebrity Apprentice." And you wonder what effect "Dancing with the Stars" will have on Kellie Pickler and Wynonna's musical career. TV sure has helped Blake.
Backstage with Blake at the famed Strawberry Festival near Tampa a few days ago ... this guy is a big star now. Women wanted to just look through the fence to get a peek. His old music has started to sell ... "Ol Red" and "Austin" have gone Gold in the digital download world. His new stuff Platinum. I am thrilled to say that he is still the same old Blake. Just more famous. I am very happy for his success. Great personality with great material wins every time.
Hurry back, everyone. I'm pooped from Spring training baseball, Bike week, Strawberry festival and Panama City ... whew ...
