Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Trying to figure out the taste of the world is the job of thousands in the entertainment business. It's never been easy to predict what will work. These days what works and what doesn't is welllllll ... take "Duck Dynasty," for example.
Huge hit on A&E ... "Honey Boo Boo" meets duck hunters in the South. Duck callers for duck hunters, to be exact. Would love to have been in the pitch meeting for that at A&E!
Maybe it's the same thing that drew people when the "Beverly Hillbillies" and "Green Acres" were around on CBS. People unlike ourselves ... who knows?
Just like who knows what Country music is anymore. Is it Willie Nelson or Hunter Hayes? Taylor Swift or Sara Evans? I can live in all those time zones, but can everyone?
Pop music in an awkward phase ... Look at One Direction. You can see the imprint of the British Invasion of the '60s on them in so many ways, from their dress to accent and style. Fun, pop music. Romantic ballads. They sound like Beatles albums from start to "Sgt Pepper." Simon Cowell had something to do with all this ... well done! Is Taylor Swift really involved with 1D's Harry?
The year of the Blake rolls on with People's Choice nominations. I voted for him in two categories. Real easy at www.peopleschoice.com
American Music Awards this weekend. A Pop affair with a taste of Country. Taylor and Carrie the lone singers.
NASCAR coming to a season end. Clint Bowyer hanging with Blake at "The Voice" a few days ago. Blake is a major NASCAR fan. Country music and NASCAR. Long ago joined up -- and no so much anymore. Maybe that's a problem for both people.
National Finals Rodeo next big event for country music fans and stars. Dec. 6th-15th in Las Vegas. Lots of cowboys and Country.
Deep in the heart of Texas, the world checks out Formula One racing ... who would have thought or places that sport there? But why not?
Christmas shopping is here ... The economy sure seems shaky. Post-election wobble. Lets hope everyone finds their spot and things don't get crazier. Things are crazy enough already...
