Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
The world is crazy! Honey Boo Boo gets picked up for another season while George Strait and George Jones cash in their chips.
Reba say goodbye to the ACM hosting job. Coincidence or just the way the world is rolling these days?
I usually say what I like here but for reasons of self-preservation, I will not. I'm not crazy about a place that George Strait doesn't sing in. I've heard it more than once: Alan Jackson and George Strait sound odd next to the new music we play. Musical age discrimination is in play at far too many so-called Country stations. Being a CHR --Country Hits Radio station -- means no oldie beyond 2002. It may be good programming but it feels wrong.
Playing to the demo ... there are only so many slots for music ... 20 ... 25? You fill them with the flavors of the day. No room for the artists with 20-year careers. Time to make way for the new folks. For better or worse.
Programming is programming ... iH eartradio can have a George Strait channel if they like. Fans can get anything anytime. The Spotify/Pandora world we live in. Things have changed.
Are Country radio people going to like this Top 40/Spotify world? I don't think so, but the future is here now.
George Strait has been the lighthouse for Country music for a lot of foggy nights. You could reboot ... hear George and remember what you were supposed to be doing and in what direction you were going.
Listen to the words of Brad Paisley's new song, "Southern Comfort Zone." That can be your homework assignment.
The format is too pop . .. too much like Top 40. Jukebox at a time when it probably should be providing some content. Voicetracked when it should be talking to the fans in real time.
Chasing the Taylor Swift fan base and running off the George Strait fans may end up costing you the franchise!
Country radio was always about adults and adult issues ... in 2012 it is a close to becoming Sons of Anarchy meets The Kardashians!
It's not too late ... $3.80 gas prices ... BOO BOO manina ... the world is crazy...Get Bobby Braddock...
To amend his song!
