Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
A steroid shot and a Z-Pack later, I am still processing the events of CMA/CMT Award show week ... It is a big blur for the most part.
You can see the stars rising when you watch a week like that. One star is TWITTER! Research showed that social media was king in Nashville that week. I love it and get value from Twitter. Facebook has its moments but could live without it.
Twitter has news ... and why some stars are scared of it I don't understand. When news break, I go to Twitter first. The media folks are on it and eyewitnesses are on it. It's great.
The new artists and most news media people get it. The older artists don't have time for it ... and no time at their own ultimate peril! Better get on this social media thing. It's not a fad ... It's a way of life!
YouTube is even more useful for some of us. I could spend the day on there and some kids actually do.
It's hard to imagine everything that is searchable. My find this week: a show called Bring Back Dallas.
I stumbled on it ,.. a fat guy from England has a reality show where they chase people to have a reunion of the cast.
I saw Dallas and Bring Back Star Trek. Can't wait to see Bring back the A Team. Justin Lee Collins is the host that grows on you. Fun TV. For sure different than Americans in style and aggressive behavior.
Nobody wants to have another Sugarland/Indiana concert disaster. The folks at BamaJam got warning of a storm approaching. Weather people said possibly severe. This team went to work. Evacuated the area and closed the show until rain stopped. As you should do. Still one person hit by a falling tent. 60 MPH winds and light hail. Lots of rain. Better safe than sorry.
How about Dallas and JR Ewing slaying the competition? Maybe there are other lessons here for radio. New is okay ... classic never hurts.
Eric Church gets hotter by the week. It is amazing. Aldean is smoking and so is Luke Bryan. Greg Bates is coming. Lee Brice is heating up. So much talent and so few places to play them!!!
