Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
The annual migration to Las Vegas for Country music hoopla is about to begin ... Sunday night, April 1st on CBS.
Usually a fun show ... first-class production ... very ambitious. The Vegas flavor, style and attitude of sexiness and winner-takes-all gets through on home TV.
Will one act dominate? I doubt it. The show can begin the bandwagon rolling for a star like Jason Aldean with the train pulling up in the Victory Circle at the CMAs in November.
Don't be shocked to see some rock faces on this show ... and some CBS show talent. KISS, for one. Most of the new school of Country were influenced a lot more by KISS than anything real country.
The Taylor Swift legacy and history book will add more pages at the ACMs. Taylor deserves to win the fan-voted Entertainer Of The Year ... look at just this recent summary audition:
Taylor is nominated for three 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Video of the Year. She is also up for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Song at the 25th Annual Kids' Choice Awards. She is featured on the April cover of Harper's Bazaar Australia, and was on the cover of Vogue in February. Taylor is the reigning Billboard Woman of the Year and the AMA Artist of the Year. She is both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association's current Entertainer of the Year, and now has more than 11.8 million Twitter followers (@taylorswift13) and 29 million Facebook friends.
It is amazing to see this young lady's success... You always feel not everyone shares that joy but hater's are always going to exist.
Taylor remains a fine example on how a star should act ... treat media and fans. Yes, she has changed some ... who wouldn't for this amount of fame? She has ridden this rocketship with great showmanship and classy style!
Lionel Richie is another act with class. He will debut #1 on the Country album charts of the winds keep blowing right. 20,000 CDs in an hour on HSN. Great fun to watch this. CD is fun. Will radio get on board? Who knows?
The Sugarland legal predicament in Indiana sure is being handled oddly. The slowness in taking depositions may eventually tell a lot. This story is not going away. This scar hangs over Indianapolis. The local newspaper is right on top of this story everyday! Time will heal the wounds. The insurance companies are going to have to pay up! A matter of who and how much! Stay tuned.
Carrie's PR drum is pounding. (What a pain it must be to eat "healthy!" Her diet would exhaust 99.9% of us. The no meat ... no dairy. Whew!) She looks great ,so maybe we should see it her way? Nope, off to a Nashville meat and 3 right now..
ACM week. Should be a good commercial week to push us into the Summer tour season.
Hunger Games kicks off the Summer movie season with a huge bang. Mad Men are back. Winter was a bust. Things are good.
Gas prices suck ... I forgot.
