Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
2012 started out kind of slow in the first week, but KABOOOM...
Read Net News here on AllAccess and the head-rolling sure hasn't stopped. The concert business seems to be out of control and exciting ... gauging the public taste has never been more tricky.
Brad Paisley's camp just announced a huge Wrigley Field Show with Miranda and The Band Perry June 9th. Great venue and weather should be great that early in June.
Carrie Underwood's folks just let it out that Steven Tyler's doing a CMT Crossroads LIVE on Super Bowl Eve. That should be huge!
Dolly Parton finally got her way and is bringing a theme park to the Opryland complex. Some kind of water-snow park for 2014. Tourism in Nashville is growing faster than the music business.
What is going on with Music Row? The concert biz seems to be going ... are the labels healthy or not? Sort of hard to read.
Spent a few minutes with Jason Aldean at this week's Grammy nomination party. He is so much better now at his media work, so much more confident, relaxed and ready to take that top spot at the CMA if he gets a chance in late 2012. He'll have competition, but I think he's the one to beat for EOY/CMA 2012. It is planning and luck.
Sad to see Blake going through the loss of his Dad. Dick Shelton was one proud papa. I know this is a hard time and we are all with you, Blake. Glad you have Miranda. This is where that partner thing comes into real importance.
Alan Jackson making real estate news about every other week, as his new music it's the air. Great song, too, AJ!
The estate down in Jupiter can be yours for $14.9 million...
The Jacksons are cashing out and relocating. We hear the newest pad is on a North Georgia Lake.
Merle Haggard had a week of pneumonia and some Macon, GA hospitality. Get well, Merle.
Really busy week. Sundance Film festival gets underway with Vogue cover girl Taylor Swift hanging out with the Kennedy family. That's running with the real hot crowd.
Taylor can do it ... Newport, RI instead of CA. American royalty pals instead of the Kardasians ... interesting crowd to run with, TS.
Always great to hang with the Possuum. Lifetime Achievement honors in Feb. from the Grammys ... 56 years ago Billboard named him Most Promising New Country Singer. 1956. Elvis was opening for George a bit in those days. Did he make any money? He said enough to get in in trouble and debt! Did GJ buy a big Rolex watch with his new money? Nope, he bought a Cadillac! Big dogs bought Caddys. Hank Sr. died in the back of one, I think the story goes.
No winter pretty much in Nashville so far in 2012 ... but lots of surprising, unpredictable news. The politicians are fighting as always. Gas prices going up to $5 by summer
(that won't be good) and the war of the Internet goes on. Shutting down websites ... not building pipelines ... crazy politicians ... stealing movies on the Net. We do live in one crazy world that none of us really understand. It's sure not boring!
(Bought a new TV -- 55" Samsung smart TV LED ... new Apple TV and Direct sat hookup with old-school sound system, Klipsch speakers, etc. ... makes it easier to take winter!)
