Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
I felt very sad living through the tributes to Apple Elvis Steve Jobs ... as Bono called him, The Elvis of computer hardware and software.
He changed my life, made me a better reporter and broadcaster. He made me money ... and cost me money, buying all his stuff. And I did buy all his stuff -- including Apple TV!
George Lucas ... a Jobs friend for many years:
"The magic of Steve was that while others simply accepted the status quo, he saw the true potential in everything he touched and never compromised on that vision. He leaves behind an incredible family and a legacy that will continue to speak to people for years to come,"
By now you've heard it all ... what you haven't heard is how Music Row might wish Steve Job had never come along! He, more than any one person, changed the music business model with iTunes. Garth Brooks is still resisting the plan and system.
Steve Jobs turned the music business on its ear with 99-cent songs. Changed the music business forever.
Jobs was not a bender, either ... his way or the highway.
Garth was on the wrong side of that issue. Maybe at first he was right, but at some point you lose and retreat and negotiate. Garth and Steve Jobs -- two great stubborn men!
I love the work of Steve Jobs...like Bono said ... he was an Elvis!
Ah, Hank "Foot in Mouth" Williams, Jr. Junior, those suits hated you in the first place. The cultural elite don't like guys who sing about Dixie and wear cowboy hats. Much less sing Country music ... Appalling! Jr's goose was cooked when he said it. The reporter who called ABC to stir things up knifed him. It was dead on arrival at the ESPN's bosses' office. How great in a perfect world: You start the CMA Show with that crazy piano; so the world's biggest CMA night re-lyric'ed opening number ... are you ready for the CMAs, are you ready to party ... never going to happen ... the CMA's are ABC ... but what a fun idea!
The Footloose movie 2011 premiered this week in Hollywood and Nashville. Big & Rich, Blake and others power the movie with hot Nashville-made music. I did not care about seeing the film. Yawned ... I went and took my 14-year-old because I had to. I LOVED it ... I can find NO one who didn't have a good time. Music is good; the cast ... everythinggggggggg. Big problem in this film's life -- getting people to say yes. Money-back guarantee. Fun, fun film...
Scotty McCrerry selling 170,000 units (maybe) first week? Lee Dyze season 9 AI champ DROPPED by RCA ... and so it goes....
X Factor rolling along, but not burning down any records...
Texas/OU weekend ... state fairs all over the South ... Off to see Blake and intro him at the Georgia National Fair ... yeee haw ... I'll have some fried butter for you.
