Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Really hard to believe that Country music fans would growl and whine at Kenny Chesney for making a decision in the name of safety. Some did on social media ... enough of them that it made USA Today and was picked up by others.
110,000 people heading to The 8th Annual New England Country Music Festival ( and drinking exhibition) and here comes a hurricane to rain on the festivities. You can't very well have a concert in the middle of Hurricane so they moved it up two days.
It was a good decision and probably an expensive one. Really short of cancelling they had no choice.
In the wake of the Indy stage collapse, weather and outdoor concerts are a sensitive subject.
Don't you know those poor show-runners in Indianapolis were worried about making those Sugarland fans mad with a postponement or cancellation. The angry mob should never rule! We spend far too much time appeasing the loudmouths instead of doing what is the RIGHT thing. Kenny and Louis Messina did the only thing! Heck, with the lunatic fans who are thinking only of themselves.
Note: They did offer refunds unless you bought from a 3rd party and that is the risk you take when you buy from the "scalpers"... I've done it and you take the risk ... sometimes you win ... sometimes you lose.
Music Row shook a bit this week ... not from the earthquake, but from "restructuring" at Sony. The recorded music business is not getting bigger. What is?
Country music drunks and crazy concert fans. Someone got their face slashed in the parking lot of the Rascal Flatts show upstate N.Y. Same place where all the trouble with drunks occurs -- Dairen Lakes near Rochester. Toby has the last show in September for the season. Best to go to that wearing a flack vest and goalie mask ... crazy, drunk fans!
(Wonder how many fans will go to jail at Kenny's show in Boston? Last year ... 365 ... the year before, 336)
ABC winning the CMAs for more years. I'd rather see them in at NBC for some diversity. ABC's MTV-like sense of show is ... let's just say: It's fitting what they want for the CMA Music Festival ... makes the CMA a LOT of money, so HOOO RAH....
Taylor Swift in L.A. was a big week for her. MTV Awards on Sunday night ... are they spotlighting her or deciding that train has left the station?
The Bieber/Swift concert moment this week was a big social media moment.
NBC Dateline has Miranda on Monday Aug 29th. Blake will be in it, too. Pistol Annies, hmmm ... we sure seem to have a lot of female groups in the pipeline.
Got to love the energy and marketing sense of John Rich. He knows how to do it like he did on "Apprentice." Check out www.johnrichsneighbor.com.
Now he's selling his first house. He is the energizer bunny!
