Jimmy Carter in his homebase Nashville.
Get that feeling that there are meetings all over the place this summer ... and there is a lot of plotting and scheming going on in corporate radio?
Takeovers, buyouts, new executives ... you smell the change but don't know exactly what it all means ... like a puzzle being put together. Change. No shortage of that flying around.
Meanwhile, the stock market is in some type of gut-wrenching roller coaster ride. Riots in London ought to concern people back here in the Colonies. Just ask the folks/police in Philadelphia and Milwaukee or maybe East St Louis. You folks around those places know what I am talking about.
The heat has backed off at a time it should be Full Scorch in August. These are crazy times with a lot of news for a late summer season.
Capitol Records Nashville having a summer ... GREAT summer ...Eric Church, for sure ... Luke Bryan, 100,000-plus this week ... a wow summer for those hard-working people.
Capitol/EMI's Keith Urban played to a Nashville audience last weekend and the show was fantastic. He gets better every year and just a self-assured wonder entertainer. With around 20 years in Music City, Keith is confident; he owns the arena and his stage every night. Great fun to watch.
Chesney playing New Jersey this weekend and the first stadium show for Country since 1983! (Willie) His box scores remain impressive ... add Taylor Swift to the in-concert list and this summer may be a record one for Country music tours ... Too many to name and raking in huge dollars in a sluggish economy. Impressive.
Not sure why, but FarmAid isn't the big deal it used to be, but it's still going on. The support for it doesn't seem to be there like it once was. Not sure why ... Kansas City, Kansas this year. Supporting the family farm is a worthy charity!
Luke Bryan ... hey, stay off skateboards! (stitches!)
Brad Paisley off to Europe and London first. Better now than last week, I guess. Glad I didn't decide to go! I love London. Don't love the idea of flash mobs with machetes, threatening people in restaurants to give up their wedding rings or have fingers cut off ...
I'll pass on that until things calm down. If they ever do.
From Kanye to AJ, American singers all over Europe right now. Bon Jovi took most of the money but there is some left.
Fall is going to be busy and hopefully fun. But like the Grassroots and Rob Grill used to sing, "Live for Today" ... Better get out and enjoy; you never know when those corporate meetings are going to mess up your day!
