Man, it's Hot ...Country Music's WELL DONE Week

From Texas to the Georgia coastline, temperature's around 100 ... Heat index at 100 and higher as we go into what we used to call Fan Fair Week.

CMA Music Fest week now is surrounded by asphalt in a downtown Nashville. Last year it was painful ... Great shows and music, just the weather and the asphalt with all those people! The weather is always hot ... Never been my favorite thing about this sprawling commercial venture.

It started out as a collection of fan clubs getting up close and personal with their stars. A great idea that grew and grew. It outgrew two of its homes, the fairgrounds and the Municipal Auditorium.

Now the event is all over town. The official events and the fan club events ... from early morning to middle of the night literally. (Marty Stuart is a late-night event.)

This year, who will be the breakout star? Every year someone does something that national news picks up.

Garth had his year, Taylor for sure ... Carrie, too. 2011?

The new "Idol" kids will get their photo ops, Shania will get some stills. Don't see Taylor doing another 13-hour autograph session. No one is really hot right now. To be seen who breaks away.

We are deep into Southern Summer and TV rerun season. At least "The Voice" is fresh and NBC has added a results night to the mix. Summer with major heat is not a lot of fun ... this too shall pass ... Can't imagine 90 days or more of this...

Interesting watching all the different music news lately. Everything OLD is NEW again:

Shania all over the magazine covers ... Alabama back at #1. The Doobie Bros. in town to sing with Luke Bryan. Not sure what all this means. The Buffalo Springfield coming down the road to Bonnaroo Festival. Time travel!!!

Alabama going on tour again in 2012? Great ... how do they fit into this mix? Who opens for them ... devil's in the details ... I think they still sound great. Thanks, Brad, for bringing them back!

Then you have things like Justin Bieber coming to the CMT Awards ... always interesting stuff. Last year it was The Situation.

The new week will include the iCloud .... Can't wait to see how that works...I love my Apple stuff and trust they will do it right ... anyone else ... no way...

Summer radio like the season should be fun. Let's hope we get into that mode sooner than later.
