Ever thought about it ... some people just know everything!!

Mark Burnett of Survivor, Apprentice and The Voice may just know everything. He sure has the Midas touch these days. Mark Goodson-Bill Todman sure used to know everything about game shows... Roone Arledge seemed to know everything at ABC Sports and later at ABC News.

The Midas Touch. The false sense that everything you touch turns to gold. It's fool's gold ... Program directors who program Rock stations all of a sudden are experts on all forms of radio -- especially Country radio ... after all, it's just radio..

Country music programmers all of a sudden know how to put together national disaster telethons. No training in the art of that specialty, just go do it ... it's just TV ...

It really is amazing that people with no past resumes find work in media and music company jobs. Glad my doctor had to have specific education.

Throwing out everything old and putting a new coat of paint on things may get the sale, but rarely works. Great things take time. Reputations are built over a long period - and ruined instantly.

There is a big rush on new talent signings at some major label. The next Big Thing ... is just around the corner ... the girls who brought you to the dance can go sit down ... or so it seems...

Funny how some folks who have a computer and a smartphone are now experts on social media. The psyche of its users ... how to monetize ... how to attract more eyeballs. Some people just know everything naturally. It is am amazing talent and very unique to broadcasting. People who have never had a following, an audience, even a decent voice ... experts on how everyone at the radio station should do their job. It is a miracle.

In these fast-moving times, finding miracle workers is as easy as just putting an ad on Craigslist. Genius types are everywhere.

It is the most frustrating thing. Howard Stern built a movie, Private Parts, about his legendary battles with program directors and spineless upper management. Weasels, snakes and parrots all inhabit the radio jungle.

Radio stations are under great pressure today to make money. King Midas can save us is the cry...

The economy is SOFT! Each employee must produce ... Cutbacks are easy. It's like the stupid lumberjack. You can fire the bad lumberjack but the idiot still cut down the trees and you can't get them back. Bad lumberjacks with sharp blades are circling your station. Seen it a lot the last three months. Be very careful!

"Idol" sure seems to generate strong feelings from the show's viewers. This week lots of growling about the demise of James Durbin. Ratings are still high but if you believe water coolers and social media, they have a lot of dissatisfied customers.

The disasters in the South got some attention this week but hardly enough. It is great that CMT made a telethon, but why didn't MTV and others in the chain carry a telethon? Is the multi-billion dollar Southern/Midwest flood/tornado not big big enough? Hollywood has been silent on this disaster. Nashville stepped up ... at least.

The Miranda/Blake wedding certainly got those two plenty of attention. They are quite the couple. Great for business. Fun to talk about.

Farm Aid is back August 13th in Kansas City ... The Today Show Summer Music Concert schedule went with Country music on three of the 16 shows. Blake, Zac, Kenny ... Three big ones...but only three ... ABC went with Miranda and Brad.
