Katie Got Bandz
Feb 16, 2014
Katie Got Bandz a.k.a. Drillary Clinton combines bouncy melodies with straightforward swagger.
If you're not familiar, you're about to witness her formal introduction to the mainstream come 2014. The 20-year-old fearless female just inked her John Hancock on a recording contract with eOne Music.
Says eOne CEO Alan Grunblatt: "Katie Got Bandz is one of the most exciting new artists to come our way in a long time. 'Pop Out' is a smash and we expect many more hit records from her." eOne is currently the home to such artists as DJ Drama, N.O.R.E., Joe Budden, Styles P, Chris Webby and more.
The deal with eOne also align her with Lawless Inc. and "Pop Out" co-star, King L. whose also made headlines by being featured on Kanye West's Yeezus album in June. Katie was recently featured on R. Kelly's remix to "My Story" so she's no stranger to the spotlight herself.
In the video for "Pop Out", which is the rappers upcoming (and perfectly titled) mixtape Drillary Clinton, she and the veteran King Louie goof around like a brother and sister who can't sit still in church. They're posing for prison mugshots but they keep playfully swatting at one another, dancing or giggling. They're in dark rooms where piles of money are more like leaf piles to jump around in. It's a perfect match for the track, a song with a twinkly, punchy beat that rips the seams of the tough-talking hook with a smirk.
