Warpaint

L.A.-based Warpaint is the kind of band that doesn't stand musically still for very long. With each album vocalist/guitarist Emily Kokal, vocalist/guitarist Theresa Wayman, bassist/vocalist Jenny Lee Lindberg and drummer/keyboardist Stella Mozgawa have shown a different side to their creativity.

Enter, Heads UP, Warpaint's third effort. Produced by Jake Bercovici, the ladies worked with him individually or in pairs to expand the sonic palette. In addition to the soon-to-be-Triple A hit "New Song," check out "Whiteout," "The Stall," "Don't Wanna" and the title track.

"The doors were a little more open in terms of what was accepted and what wasn't, because we were sharing ideas so rapidly between us," said Mizgawa.

"We've always had this really jammy, high-energy live show compared to some of our records," Kokal said. "We all love to dance. We didn't want to take away from the emotion or the core feeling of what our band is all about, but we wanted to bump the speed up and have a little bit more fun."

Warpaint is on tour through the end of the year including dates in the U.K. and Europe.
