El Vy
Nov 1, 2015
El Vy is a side project by The National's Matt Berninger and Portland, OR-based musician Brent Knopf (Menomena, Ramona Fall). The two met about a decade ago and over that time have been sharing musical ideas, which ultimately led to the Return To The Moon project - co-produced by both of them and recorded in Portland.
The music is creative and quirky. In addition to the title track, check out "Paul Is Alive," "Need A Friend," "No Time To Crank The Sun," "Silent Ivy Hotel" and "Sleepin' Light."
"We kept throwing little seeds of future songs in there." said Berninger. "It wasn't until November of last year that we really dug in to make it a record. This record is more autobiographical than anything else I've written, but the details aren't true. It's written in the voices of a few invented characters, composites of different people -- myself, my wife and other people I was thinking about."
EL VY recently made their U.S. TV debut on "Conan." They are ready to embark on their first tour.
