David Bowie

David Bowie may have been laying low the past decade (musically, that is) but that is certainly no longer the case with the global fanfare surrounding his new album beginning with the release of "Where Are We Now" at the beginning of the New Year.
Now Bowie's much anticipated new album, The Next Day, is set for release on March 12th. The project was co-produced with long-term collaborator Tony Visconti and was recorded in New York, where he now lives.
Early press has been stellar referencing the fact that Bowie has returned with a very modern sound while still being able to hold on to his storied past. Many critics hope this project means he will remain musically active.
In addition to the first single, Bowie has just dropped a second, single "The Stars (Are Out Tonight). The standard album release of The Next Day includes 12 other tracks including "Love Is Lost," "Valentine's Day," "Dancing Out In Space" and the title track. The deluxe version features three bonus tracks.
As in the past, Bowie is approaching this project on a multi-media level. There was a creative video for "Where Are We Now," and now there is a more expansive video production for the "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)." It was directed by Floria Sigismondi, who also worked with Bowie on 1996's "Little Wonder" and 1997's "Dead Man Walking," and was shot by Jeff Cronenweth. Bowie stars in the video alongside Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton.
There is speculation as to whether Bowie will tour around this new release, but nothing concrete has been announced yet.
