Scars On 45
Apr 16, 2012
Scars On 45 have been doing everything right: they have played at just about every industry event imaginable; they have done at least one visit or show for just about the entire Triple A panel; and, of course, they have given us great music. After two successful songs at the format - "Give Me Something" and "Heart On Fire" - and two EPS, the band from Leeds, England finally deliver their self-titled debut.
Originally a trio with Danny Bemrose (vocals/guitar), Chris Durling (drums) and Stuart Nichols (bass), David "Nova" Nowakowski (keyboards) and Aimee Driver (vocals, percussion) eventually rounded out the band to a quintet.
Ultimately, "CSI: New York" selected the group's song, "Beauty's Running Wild," for an extended closing scene. The music caught the attention of noted music supervisor, Alexandra Patsavas, who signed the band to her Atlantic Records-distributed label, Chop Shop Records.
The band produced their debut album themselves and it features several new tracks we haven't heard to date including "Breakdown," "Warning Sign," "Beauty Running Wild," "The Way That We Are" and a fleshed-out "Don't Say." A deluxe version of the album boasts four bonus tracks.
"Just to be able to put yourself out there and let people know who you are is wonderful," said Bemrose. "What I write about is who I am really. When people listen and react to one of our songs, there's no better feeling."
Scars On 45 were a VH1 You Oughta Know Artist for Jan/Feb. The band did a run of dates with The Fray and appeared on "The Late Show with Jay Leno on March 3rd. They have just embarked on an extensive tour with many of the dates as support for Ingrid Michaelson.
