French 4-piece Phoenix return with their second single "Tonight," a collaboration with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, out via Glassnote. The accompanying video, directed by Oscar Boyson, was shot in Tokyo with Ezra and Phoenix inhabiting similar spaces in wildly different parts of the world. The single arrives with the announcement of Phoenix's upcoming first album in five years, Alpha Zulu, set for release on November 4th. The title track was the lead single. Phoenix had this to say about the new single "Tonight," "We wrote this song in our studio in the Museum of decorative arts in the Palace of the Louvre in Paris. We wanted it to be a duet (something we’ve never done) and thought of Ezra right away - we knew him from playing the same festivals over the years and became good friends. He worked remotely (again something we’ve never done) and, surprisingly, it made it more fun cause every time we’d get his recordings, it felt like Xmas in the studio. This song is about candor, splendor and a touch of bromance. Mixed by the one and only Manny Marroquin."
